I noticed on Friday that we have a full page spread in last week’s Sligo Weekender! Thanks for the support and to everyone that came along the weekend before last!
Another wonderful event, the biggest and best to date! Thank you to Anna Leask for snapping these vibrant pictures throughout the afternoon!
We had many familiar faces, and some new stalls too. Mary of Granny’s Attic Vintage returned with her sparkling vintage gems. Paul of Retro Rumage, made his first appearance at the Sligo Flea Market. Melany and her homemade aromatherapy oils made a vibrant comeback, and our regulars Serena of Bohemian Gifts and Patrick of Faughts Records held vigil, as ever! The IT Sligo Fine Art students had an eclectic table, and Le Fournil, the french bakery, had tempting treats for sale.
We haven’t announced the date for our next market yet, but you’ll hear it first on our facebook page!

The Sligo Flea Market originated with the Frivolous Fare. The Fare began as a small scale affair in the Open Trades club in Sligo Town, while the Trades Club still had a physical space. In April of this year, I managed the social media for the Fare, and as Karen moved back to Dublin, she asked me if I’d like to carry the market on. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity.
A new market called for a new image for people to acquaint themselves with. I have no background in graphic design, so I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, whilst having a distinct look. The statue of W.B. Yeats is iconic in Sligo town so I included that, and William’s reputation for chasing the ladies is well known, so I included that cheeky aside!
